generic vs brand name medication differ in their formulation. The live ingredient is the same. What differs is the style the ingredient is delivered to your body. Give the generic a shot, and if it works basically as well, use that. If it doesn't seem to be to work as well, later that generic medicine isn't as effectual for you. I don't know about valtrex specifically, but the usefulness of meds can vary between individuals, so it's worth giving the generic a shot.

Is acyclovir as good as Valtrex? Well, it's in actual fact the active form of it, so adjectives other things being equal (upon which I would not count), yes.
